Don't Inject Tendons!
Hi everyone,
I got a really good question yesterday from a Ridecamper
and I really need to make sure everyone out there
understands that I DID NOT inject Adequan directly
into Blue's tendon.
Matter of fact, *never* inject anything into a tendon.
You can do a lot of damage doing something like that.
I did not in anyway mean to imply that I had injected
a tendon.
This is important... so I'm making sure that's understood.
I give the Adequan IM... Intramuscularly. In the muscle.
I worked as a vet tech for a while where I was taught to
give IM injections amoung other things although I am not
a licensed Vet Technician. I don't even give my own
vaccines. The only thing I give is Adequan because at
the daunting cost of having my vet out every month to
give it for me, Magnum just wouldn't get them any other
way. If you do not know how to use a needle, please ask
your vet to train you before attempting it yourself. With
IM, for instance, you need to aspirate.
There is a new tendon therapy out there that was used on
Cavonieer... a tendon injection which is only done by vets.
One of the articles I saw months later said that there was
some trouble with the treatment and it was all linked to
injecting too much fluid into the tendon during treatment.
Fluid can do damage no matter how it gets in there.
Please let me know if you have any questions... or if I
have once again not made myself clear.
