Sarah - In the summer here the beet pulp will ferment real quick if I
don't keep it in a cool place! I love the smell of it but am not sure
how good it would be for the horses to eat that way. (I have wondered
about making some tolt alcohol from it...) We don't have much of a
problem with the pellet part, though.
By the way, we don't have running water (yet) (and I mean, not in the
house, not in the feed room, nowhere but when being pumped from the well
1/4 mile away), so another reason I do the soaking in advance is because
most of the time I'm having senior moments & forget to bring water in to
the feed room early enough - once I open the feed room door, the beasts
expect to be fed pronto! So I do whatever it takes to be prepared to
start feeding *the very second* I go towards the feed! Lif
