heel sound but still hot
Hi all - thanks so much for the great ideas on treating the heel bruise
that my horse got from a too small easyboot. I am happy to report that
after about 4 days, he was completely sound on it. But, there is still
some heat in it - quite obvious when compared to the other front foot.
The level of heat seems to be the same as it was when he was lame, but
he does not flinch when I palpate the heel bulb, and he doesn't seem
uncomfortable at all. Should I be worried about this? I plan to take him
in his first CTR (a 15-miler) on Saturday. I rode him 10 miles last
Saturday and 6 miles on Sunday last week, with no sign of lameness. I am
giving him this week off, hoping the heat will disappear. Any ideas or
wisdom? Thanks.
