Re: RC: girth problems
On certain horses I have had trouble with felt. Some felt is not 100 percent
wool and the synthetic fibers can cause heat build up on some horses, which
will make them sore. I had a horse that I rode on Tevis with a felt pad.
Worked just fine. I used it on another horse for a long pleasure ride and her
back was very sore and her skin was flaky in the shape of the pad and
eventually the skin peeled off. I could not ride her for several weeks. The
vet looked at it and said that felt can be extremely bad on some horses and
her own sweat burned or blistered her skin.
