Deanna,
I think it depends on what you're after. For dressage you
want to be careful not to "overbit" your horse because they
can easily get behind the bit and on the forehand. I would
be concerned if your instructor is not addressing the fact
that your horse is hanging on your hands. I look at lessons
as me paying for someone else's expertise. Sometimes a
second opinion is useful.
