Re: RC: Babson lines for endurance(info)
Let me say a little more of the Babson Line. Since some people thought
it was a joke.
Henry Babson started his breeding farm in 1932. The Babson Farm is now
the oldest continuous commercial Arabian breeding farm in America. Fadl a
1930 grey stallion bred by Prince Mohammed Ali. Was imported from Egypt in
1932. Five others were imported:
Metsur, 1932 chestnut stallion (died shortly after importation)
Maaroufa 1930 grey mare
Bint Serri I 1923 bay mare
Bint Bint Sabbah 1930 bay mare
Bint Saada 1930 chestnut mare
Bint Bint Dura 1930 chestnut mare
Fadl was an all around horse who was shown in western, 3-gaited, and
polo. He competed in endurance and was even use to plow the garden at the
Babson farm. He sired 34 Babson Egyptian foals. Because of his strong
influence his blood is now found world wide in many champions in the breed.
Mr. Babson sold a wonderful stallion "Disaan" out of "Fa Saana" by "Fay
El Dine" son of Fadl, to Roy & Nellie Jackson in Valley Center, CA and they
continued to follow the same standards as Henry Babson. Both of the
Jackson's have sinced past away.
These are all wonderful horses and I could go on and on about them. They
are tough have natural low pulse rates and look like an Arabian. There are
very few horses left with these bloodlines close up and I am so lucky, not
only to own two, a stallion & a mare, but in the late 70's and early 80's to
ride my mare in endurance, polo, barrel racing, parades, playdays, etc.
"Rousaandra" is now barren and retired but she had 5 foals and carried this
family around for over three generations! She is now 27 years old. Her last
ride with my grandson (a 6 year old) was May 1996 she placed 11th at the
Malibu ride. My stallion is doing great, he is now 23 and just had a son
this spring! What a guy!
