Hi all

Other here (UK) the buyer usually stumps up for the vetting , around £150 
-179 so about $250 -350! Not cheap.

I had mine vetted before purchase. Paid a weekend afterwards and spent the 
whole time worrying that the vendor would use my vetting for prospective 
purchasers.

As far as im concerned Im suprised a vet in a litigous country like the USA 
would diviluge info to another proespective buyer. Surely his contract is 
with the vendor and to do so would be in breach of contract?

Over here I guess horse buying is like house buying you can be gasumped by 
anyone with enough money. At the end of the day if some one has a horse who 
they are desperate to sell for what ever reason, one can hardly blame them 
for going for the best price.  A

t the previous yard whre I kept my horse the owner bred really nice 
eventer/hunters. She often had 'prospective' buyers try the horses, measure 
them for rugs, have them vetted, had to pay herself to keep the horses for a 
few weeks and then just like snow the 'buyer' disapeared, so hard cash ruled 
in her mind! Though I think a good faith deposit shoudl secure the right to 
purchase myself.

Incidentally FWIW my vetting manged to miss all the problems my horse has 
ie. locking stifles, rig , overshot jaw etc. Still love him to bits though 
and the insurance coverd his stifles op due to having a vets cert!
