I did not read a single post from an
active user of the McClellan. So here
is one. In fact I have two:
an ll 1/2 inch that I got for Carrera
when his l2 inch started to bridge
due to his back shape dropping more;
There were also different contractors
that made the trees and they vary that
way somewhat, I am told by my saddler
Ted Jones in Live Oak FL ; You may
contact him at email: remsfarm@alltel.net
The riding style described by one post
is wrong in anybody's saddle 'legs pushed forward'; What makes anybody think
that is correct in a McClellan?
The comments made by somebody about
horse's backs being different implied
they are better nowdays. Nothing
could be farther from the truth.
I have been looking for a replacement
prospect and have seen a lot of
poor backs in Arabians, with very
high croups for example.
I also got a saddle from a famous saddle
maker supposed to solve all problems.
I had trouble with the girthing
system being too close to the horse's
elbows; And the leathers are so wide
they put a lot of extra leather on my knee, to say nothing of the extra leather in the jockey, that does not exhist on my McClellan. Needless to say I had to retire the saddle to training duties after tearing up my knees on its
first fifty miler. Do not bother
asking what brand for I will not
be quoted. It is a nice saddle for
pleasure riding but give me my McClellan
for the long ride.
good luck with your saddles,
