cinches for dummies

OK, I feel like an idiot. I have been riding English all my life and
haven't a clue how to do up a western cinch. I'm going to be trying out
a new "endurance-style" saddle that has center-fire rigging with those
standard western billets (which I think are otherwise known as latigo
tie straps - but with holes for the buckle to go through). Can some sage
person who rides Western help me by explaining how this is done? Thanks
so much.
