Shows that are fun - was Boggs Suspension!

After reading much of the discussion about the David Boggs suspension which
is a step in the right direction, it made me wonder how many of you know
that there are some small arab organizations that do promote a more
wholesome show atmosphere.  One of them is the Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse
Society (ECAHS).   It has members from most of the East coast states and
some from the mid-west as well.  This breed preservation organization
sponsors a Celebration once a year, usually in Va, in a rural area called
Wakefield (currently under water due to Floyd), on Labor Day weekend.
The show is *very* laid back, strictly t-shirts and jeans kind of
atmosphere.  Horses are shown square, no makeup,and most of all - they are
quiet.  In addition to the show classes the whole weekend is filled with
seminars & demos which are interspersed between the classes. Sarah Ralston
was one of the speakers this year and can perhaps comment.  Every year the
event seems to get a little bigger.  More and more folks are coming that
either had given up showing or who haven't before, because of the atmosphere
at the other shows.
I know that there are several other Crabbet organizations around the country
(TX & OR) and I think they promote the same type of events (Heidi?).
In addition to the show, the ECAHS also offers high point awards.  Points
can be derived from showing, Competitive Trail, or Endurance (among other
things so this is Endurance related :).  Horses must be 25%Crabbet/Blunt
breeding to qualify.  ECAHS will certify your horse(s) for $5 each for
members.
Oh yes, and one of the other events the club is working on is hosting trail
rides for its members in each of the represented states.
