Sigh...
I am a saddleseat rider with 20 years of hard knocks trying
to convince saddleseat trainers that it might be good for
their industry to do away with some of these practises.
I've shown up at Morgan shows (where the same shit takes place)
with a camcorder for the explicit purpose of documenting,
for example, "stirring up" in-hand horses with whips before they
go into the ring.
What you have to remember is that shows are, essentially,
private property. You have no "right" to be on the show
grounds. If enough trainers complain to the show committee
(who require those trainers' presence to make their show
break even--and many of whom are likely *ON* the show
committee) that you are photographing their activities,
you will simply be shown the gate.
That's not to say that you shouldn't give it a try, but
*be aware*.
