I'm glad you brought that up, Teddy. I've always felt that this is a big
mistake. I don't even want to see the horses until most of their hold times
have elapsed--I think you can catch problems one vet check sooner that way,
and either salvage the completion by slowing the rider down or pulling the
horse before he is so bad that he needs extensive treatment. Having horses
go right through the vetting when they are still on a bit of a "runner's
high" from the trail disguises a lot of problems, IMO. If they go back to
their rigs and stand like zombies without eating, or stiffen up, I want to
know about it.
