Of course, there was only so much of the precious liquid available, but he'd
still stretch out and try. And whinny at them if they didn't produce food.
So everyone thought something was wrong with my horse!!!
Now we just verbally praise our horses whenever we see them going. It takes
a LOT longer (and our stallion still has to find just the right spot)
but once they get the idea it's desired behavior it helps!
