internal clock (fresh can of worms anyone?)
After reading the posts about conditioning for actual ride conditions, it
occurred to me that we may be missing an important point. I wonder what
effect training in the evenings for rides that typically start in the early
mornings has on all of us, horses and riders alike? As a regular daily
runner who competes a few times a year, I can definitely tell you that
there's a difference in the way I perform at different times of the day!
I'm a fire-breathing world-beater at dawn, but back to being at
41-year-old woman again by the afternoon:) My teenaged son is the
opposite. (Luckily his crosscountry events normally start around 3:30 in
the afternoon.)
It may be a good idea to select prospects who are "morning people" or
condition in the mornings to gradually change our internal clocks?
