Paul once asked an Arabian halter trainer if he realized that when
stallions fight, they try to bite each other's front legs - a broken
legged horse is a dead horse. The trainer looked blankly at Paul - he
didn't get it. So Paul went on to ask (in an extremely reasonable tone,
for Paul) if the trainer didn't think that maybe when stallions where
whipped on their front legs that the stallion might think of it as a
direct challenge - and some day go for revenge? Still no response.
I saw a stallion at the Nationals just decide he'd had it. He yanked
his lead loose, went at his (well known but thin haired as opposed to
the "big blond hair" look) trainer with his teeth before taking off
around the arena - some people in the audience (who, me?) started to
clap but got poked nastily by their business partner and had to behave.
