Colleen - While I am *not* in any way defending (or disputing the fact
of ) the abusive methods some trainers use (and they don't have to be
show trainers, or even professional trainers, of course) I had to smile
at your comments about the eyes of the horses in AHW magazine.  If
you've ever been present at one of those photo shoots, you'd be amazed
that there are any horses at all who *don't* have wide, fearful eyes!
They use all kinds of techniques to get a horse's alert attention:  Fire
extinguishers, people walking around under tarps, tape recorders of
horses whinnying or zoo lions roaring, umbrellas - I'm sure there's
things they do that I can't even imagine!  Lif
