Re: RC: morgan
Hi Janet
The morgan has probably got a very large amount of Canadian horse in the
background. If you take a look at a foundation morgan and a well bred
Canadian, you'll see an incredible resemblance. One or 2 of the mares
bred to Justin Morgan were pure bred Canadians for sure. The rumour is
that many Canadians lost their identity crossing the border a hundred
years ago and immediately became morgans. Both horses are known for
their wonderful endurance, personalities, feet, trotting ability, etc.
Of course, many Canadians are larger than the morgans, but they were
being bred to pull wagons and plows on the farms more than for riding
(sort of the opposite of the morgan). The Canadian/Arab crosses we bred
this year look very much like morabs. We are thrilled with them.
