Re: horse abuse
As the proud owner of a TWH, former show horse, I wanted to adamantly
state that these horses DO have wonderful minds. Laddie is way smarter
than me when I comes to trail riding. I cannot count the number of times
that he has saved my big bottom from my own ignorance. He is also gentle
and kind and tolerant. As a breed, every Walking horse I ever met has
had a good mind and a good disposition.
I also wanted to mention, though, that Laddie cannot tolerate whips
around him. I had a show whip in my hand walking through his corral on
the way to the barn. He struck this amazing and beautiful show stance.
I was impressed and went over to pet him (forgetting about the whip).
The closer I came, the more the horse tensed and posed, and finally began
shaking. I stopped and he just turned tail and ran. Laddie had never
run from before or since. I don't even want to think about what may have
caused him to be so frightened.
