Re: RC: Re: Endurance &CTR(stallions)
Heidi,
Would you elaborate please on the personality signs of stallions? I have a
2 year old colt with an absolutely wonderful personality -- extremely laid
back, very people oriented, & not talkative. His father is the same way.
I also board & have been fortunate enough to find a barn to allow me to
leave him intact (mainly because of the heat & flies here in the
southeast), but I'm now having second thoughts about gelding him. Of
course I thought he was perfect when I bought him, but everyone (vet,
farrier, breeders) who has come in contact with him routinely ask if I'm
sure I want to cut him. Thankfully the barn manager has fallen in love
with him also, so he's accommodating me in all ways so that I won't have to
geld the boy (that is unless he tears down fences trying to get to the
mares).
The colt is turned out currently with a 5 year old gelding who is teaching
him herd dynamics & is in a pasture adjacent to a herd of geldings & mares.
BTW this is a colt with the confirmation, personality, & apparent
athleticism you would want to pass on.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
