Re: RC: David Boggs Suspension

The latest grapevine news from an "insider" I know in MN is that David's
attorneys plan to have an injunction on file well prior to Nationals.
They are basing their lawsuit on the precedent set by that one basketball
player's case (can't remember his name -- it was in Lawyer's Weekly). He
was kicked out of the NBA for some rule violation and he took it to trial
and the trial court said that the NBA could not take the man's livelihood
completely away from him.

It is so good to know that others don't just love David. I'm kinda an
outsider in the Arabian show world in that I was not impressed by him. I
saw his assistants actually slash Mishah (pretty big time stallion)
across the face with a halter -- buckles and all! If they will do that
to a horse worth millions, what will they do to a regular person's horse?

I do show an Arabian filly and was VERY careful about who I chose as a
trainer. Picked a small timer with a good reputation who is gentle and
good with my horse. We have an agreement that if it comes down to it,
I'd much rather he lose with my horse than do what the "big" boys do. I
was offered A LOT of money for my horse by one of the big boys --
brothers who haven't been mentioned yet. However, saw one of them
actually chewed out IN THE RING by the judges for gingering his horse and
couldn't have my horse going there. [He still got Reserve Regional
Champion with the horse, by the way. So much for there being a penalty
for violating the rules.]

Also, I think it's important that people know that the draft of the
suspension that I saw said he was being suspended for the surgical
alterations of animalS -- not just "animal." I heard about three
surgical alterations upon which the suspension was based -- none of the
three was Magnum Psyche. Also, the suspension was based upon attempting
to influence or intimidate members of the ethics board.

Anyway, I am hoping this is a sign that IAHA is serious about cleaning up
at least some of the abuses.
