    I think that was Marci Cunningham; Marci, I couldn't agree more!  
    I'm just grateful if publicity helps people to:
     1) know what endurance is (makes it a lot easier to explain this crazy 
obsession--also probably makes it easier for those seeking sponsors), and 
    2) understand it is not (at least not usually or intentionally) abusive 
to the horse--unfortunately most of the uninitiated, (including yours truly 
years ago!) presume this as soon as they hear "100 miles in 24 hours"!
    We've got to be patient and grateful for minor incremental improvements 
in these matters.
