Horses riding on the "passenger" side of a tandem trailer generally have more
difficulty keeping their balance because the crown in the center of the road
creates a slant to the side that is more pronounced the closer you are to the
curb or the side of the highway. The horse on the "driver" side is closer to the
crown and therefore travels more level.
As for scrambling in general, my experience has been that horses who have always
been fine in the trailer and then begin to scramble have developed a lameness,
particularly in the rear.
