That sounds like a great way to train people. :)
I don't generally give electrolytes on training rides, because I want the
horses to learn how to deal with a deficit. Also, because of competing so
frequently I don't often take the horses out for any longer than a 10-12
mile ride. (except for yesterday when I rode both horses for over 20 miles
because my dog was attacked by coyotes and I had to try and find her) I
think it's great for people to get to learn how to administer electrolytes
though. I know I had a horse that was a real PITA with that. He went thru
several rides without getting any electrolytes because I didn't want to
attempt to fight a battle that I couldn't win. Instead, we practiced and
practiced at home and on the trail from home until I knew I could win, and
then I finally got them into him at a ride. Now I can dose him from his
back and he's easy. At the time I swear he could grow 10', but he only did
that at a ride. ;^)
