CTR is quite popular in my neighborhood as the best place to 'start' a young horse, while educating the novice rider to the sport of distance riding. I fully agree, but thought, CTR should be called: Endurance, and Endurance called: CTR. The reason being I've found more competitiveness in Endurance (think about it!) and more enduring in CTR, especially the mulit-day rides where one MUST hold a pace for seven hours while covering only 40 miles! Remember folks, this is said in good humor.
