Don't let the unfeeling comment about asking how much it costs bother you.  I 
always ask what it costs, one would be a fool not to ask.  Anyway over the 
years I have found that people that don't ask often don't intend to pay!  
Good  luck in starting in endurance.   There are a lot of nice people in the 
sport.
