Re: RC: RE Name That Pedigree
Quoted from "The Crabbet Arabian Stud" by Rosemary Archer, Colin Pearson
and Cecil Covey (1978): "With the exception of three horses introduced
by Lady Wentworth, all the animals that constitute the Crabbet
foundation stock were imported by the Blunts [Wilfred & Lady Anne]
themselves. The exceptions are Dafina, Mirage and Skowronek".
While I am no expert on Crabbet horses, based on this book and other
histories of the Crabbet Park Stud, the Crabbet *foundation* horses
(with the exclusion of Skowronek) originated in the Arabian desert.
Lady Wentworth was the Blunts daughter and did import many horses from
Poland, however she did not take over the Stud until 1918 or 1919
(sorry, I'm not sure which date) 40 years after the founding of Crabbet
Park Stud with its first imports in 1878.
This email is not intended to contradict Don's comments about Crabbet
horses, but add to it, because upon first reading of his post to the
list, I thought the wording implied that Crabbet horses would be of
Polish descent. Lif
