Re: RC: Norco retired partner's ride (long)
Once an endurance horse, always an endurance horse, at least the ones I
know! It would be so nice if more RMs would consider putting on RP
(Retired Partners) rides. Do old riders count?
About 3 years ago we were working on a dude ranch. July 4 there were
lots of riders there for the day, and the last ride of the day we had
too many riders, not enough horses. We had to use our retired endurance
mare Cassie (Nu-Bo-Kay), 22 or 23 years old at the time, and about 10
months pregnant. It was just a few miles of dude trail, and Paul was
going to ride drag, so we figured it wouldn't be a problem. Paul looked
fairly silly sitting in the saddle over that big belly, but Cassie was
enthusiastic and trotting in place. It was a fun ride, with Cassie
having to go in circles most of the way - she just *could not*
understand when the controlled start would get over with! Lif
