Many western riders use dressage, too.  It is really a very basic discipline 
and can be used with ANY sort of tack.  I grew up in western tack, too, with 
dressage taught to us by an old woman who learned hers in a military stable.  
Needless to say, that experience sure helped me to not accept stereotypes 
about dressage later in life! <g>
