lost dog/tail

Sorry to bother everyone with this but if anyone is interested in what the 
lost dog that found me looks like i have a picture i can e-mail you.

Now I have a Newbie question, how do you train your horse to "tail"  I live 
in the mountains and i am sure my mare would be greatful to get the load  
off her back going up hill (I usually get off and walk her up but she walks 
faster than my short legs can go :-) )
