Re: RC:Supplement to improve hooves: biotin
if you use biotin be sure it also has methionine in it as the biotin
requires the methionine in order to work properly. in reading a lot of the
lables on various products it would seem that a probiotic is also
encouraged to help the biotin work.
my vets have told me that if the horse is deficient in biotin then the
biotin will help promote faster hoof growth, if the horse is not deficient
then it won't do anything.
as for the soft hooves, many people years ago, and i still see some doing
it, fed Knox geletin powder daily. many people take it to promote strong
fingernails and it is reported to help strengthen hooves.
