Re: High altitude riding
Hi: If your are going to rise on the Flats of which there are many should be
no sweat it's flat. If you are going to ride in the National Forest it will
most likely be on logging roads again if you are going to do it easy, no
sweat. Taos can be chilly at all times of the years in the mornings and
after the SUN goes down immediately after the Sun goes down it is an
immediate change. Dress for this change and provide blankets or sheets for
the critters. Taos is approximately 7,000 feet in elevation, if the horse
start to blow/hu and puff give'm a break.
They will just be getting acclimated after the week.
I you have any alcohol, it will affect you a lot quicker plus add all that
applies to the critters to you. p/s sunscreen may be essential if you burn
easily "less atmosphere"
