Re: RC: California Fires!
I have just finished unpacking everything I packed Tuesday night when we left
our house under a mandatory evacuation. We are very lucky and didn't lose
anything but it was so very close - at the property line . We brought the
horses home yesterday - all 7 of them. It was 2 days before they deemed it
safe for them to return.
I can't stress enough how important it is to have a good plan. Our fire
started on the otherside of the mountain and at 3:00 didn't seem worth
worrying about . By 6:30 our entire valley was on fire and it was a mass
exodus . We have talked for years about how we would stay and try to save our
house ( after the animals were safely away ) . When it came down to it - we
didn't hesitate to leave the firefighting to the professionals. We can
always rebuild ( it took a year to build this one and we just finished in May
). Every house in our valley was saved .
