I  haven't looked closely at SMB boots lately but they used to be poorly 
designed in that there were rough seams on the inside where they would rub 
the horse.  Other brands did not have this error.  I purchased a brand called 
Les Voigt I think and they worked very well on horses that were ridden in 
rough terrain and for relatively long distances.
