Connie, in Santa Clara County they are trying to redo the ordinance to limit 
the number of small, medium and large animals per acre.  Horses and sheep and 
dogs would all count towards the maximum per acre.  I think it is two per 
acre.  I just heard about it today so I am not sure.    It is called Article 
4, Chapter 4.50, the Animal Density Ordinance.  It also seeks to tell you 
where you can put any shelter, barn, etc.  I guess the Board of Supervisors 
has run out of stuff to do.
