That is you. She is a new rider. I didn't say she shouldn't give
electrolytes before the ride just during. But if you continue giving
electrolytes while the horse is not drinking it is dangerous. Electrolytes
will dehydrate your horse more. That is a fact. To say go a longer distance
is not what I would advise. Not for a new rider. What is wrong in praticing
and teaching your horse to take care of him/her self before a ride anyway? I
teach clients (about 30 - 40 per year) to try and be prepared and be ready
for a ride. Just last week, we took 8 riders to the Fireworks 50 and 7
finished!
