spooking
I also ride a spooker who has teleported & unseated me 3 times. After
that, I decided to get serious about de-spooking this horse. One of the
John Lyons methods that I have used that is working really well is that I
TOTALLY ignore her spooking or the object (when going down the trail). I
do not let her go look at it; sniff it; - I just treat the object
matter-of-factly & I just keep driving her forward.
She is definitely worse at the canter than at the trot & I have had 2 back
surgeries in the last year (due to an auto accident), so I think that she
now feels my apprehension. But, I have found that if I let my breath out,
relax & continue riding, that she does much better.
Good Luck
