Frequent urination

A friend asked me about this, I said I'd ask on ridecamp.  She rode her 4
year old mare on the trail Sunday (their usual 2-3 hour ride) and she
thought it odd that the mare peed 3 times, one time not much output.  The
mare didn't seem to be straining or in pain, but my friend is a little
concerned.  Do horses get urinary tract infections?  The mare always goes
once out on the trail, sometimes twice.  Any ideas?
