Hi Jackie,
If the trail is flat and straight, change diagonals periodically. (I do it
every minute or two.)
If the trail curves but is still flat, post the outside diagonal.
If the trail slants right or left, post the uphill diagonal, regardless of
how the trail curves.
If the trail is really uneven, don't post, take a light seat.

This might sound complicated, but once you've tried it you will see the
perfect logic (& physics) in it. You and your horse will be in sync and
literally dance down the trail!!
