sheath cleaning

I read somewhere to use baby oil on the ding dong when it hangs out to go 
potty or when the male is just relaxed. I do that to my gelding. I just douse 
it with the oil and he pulls it back up to let everything in there loosen up. 
Does this make sense to anyone?
