Christie Janzen's 4th Vet Check

I am happy that other observers have come forth and have mentioned what
happened at the 4th vet Check with Christie's horse. I was there and
observed the following:

I saw her horse led up the aisle and presented to the in-timers. Nobody
took the pulse just before presenting that I could ascertain. I saw the
pulse taker on the horse for over a minute. I BELIEVE that this person,
(and I know that all of the P/R persons were qualified, having
interviewed them before the race) took the pulse for 15 seconds and
found it to be high -over 15 - and then continued for the full minute to
see if it was indeed lower. She thought that it was still over, too bad
it was only by a few seconds, but that confirmed that it was over in the
15 second interval.

Christie showed later that the horse was the top one by making up so
much time on the then leaders and it is fortunate that the horse was
designated best conditioned. Too bad that she and the Chef... were not
there at the "line" and that they had not checked the pulse just before
the in-timer..... that is part of the race....

Two extra minutes would have saved 20. Such is life...(my opinion).

I wish that I had pulled back another 15 minutes in the Tevis this year,
then I "might" have had a 10th place.
Should of, Could of, Would of.....Didn't.....
