Posting from PAC
Following is a posting from Dinah Rojek onsite reporter.
Manitoba, Friday, 3:00pm
Myna and her crew are on site, persevering under a blazing sun,
distant bombing and an occasional sightings of a great horned owl.
We are in oil county, oil as in sunflower, canola and corn.
The folks here cannot do enough for us. If you stop along
the road, they stop too, and ask if they can be of help.
That can be a bit embarrassing at times!
We were entertained with a smorgasbord and Objibway drummers
and dancers at the opening ceremonies. We were invited to
join in and many did. It immediately began the rain. Was
that a rain dance? Tommy Crain, Australian Trevor Knight
and Brent from Calgary, you know him, sang golden oldie
camp songs around the fire. They sang "This Land is My
Land" three different ways, simultaneously. That was very cool.
Out of the 107 entrants, two were not allowed to start,
and that is always sad.
The ride will start at 5:30 tomorrow, and we will keep you posted.
