a couple thoughts - 

i assume you've had her teeth checked.

i see an awful lot of older horses i'd like to have tested for cushing's
disease.  vets don't usually think of it unless the horse is in really
bad shape, but i think there's more of it out there than many might
think.  if it's an older horse with coat changes, then it's worth a
shot.  the thing is, there's medication that can often make a
difference.
