I just have to say, I am assuming she popped him on the, well, dong. I cannot
imagine ever doing that, as that is a tremendously sensitive spot. Our
stallion is exceptionally well behaved, and on just about 3 occasions in 14
years, I have had to give him a firm rap on the shoulder. Iseems to me that a
sharp rap ANYWHERE else, both gets him attention and also is not painful or
an affront to him. Stallions ARE a different type, and of course require more
attention, but it seems that if a stallion needs to be whacked on the weenie
- sorry - to behave, either there is a gaping hole in his training or
perhaps he does not have the temperament to stay a stallion. I just have to
cringe - it must be like putting your boob in a vise.

It does start in the brain - but for some young horses the thought travels
spontaneously! I need to sometimes tone down my words, because I should have said
she smacked him sharply; it wasn't a gentle tap, but it wasn't "beating" or welt
raising blow either. She did it once in training when he didn't make the
association as he was suppose to, and I think she did it again later when he
didn't respond immediately. After that he didn't drop to flirt, and on the few
times I saw him get reprimanded, it was a spank for flirting.

Yeah, this was about how my friend drew the line. If she was working with him, he
was suppose to behave. He wasn't allowed to "flirt" at rides, on his time or
hers.
