Re: RC: Grade One Lameness/Easyboot Medicator
>Have two questions:

Is he still lame? If so I don't know if I'd worry about it. If he's still
off then you might want to opt for x-rays. Do you have a set of "before"
x-rays so you can compare? Discuss it with your vet and farrier and see
what they think.
>#2 Any experience with using an Easyboot medicator on a horse at pasture?
ROFL - yes!!! I wouldn't advise it. I tried that this winter on
Weaver. I had to go out and literally "rescue" him in the middle of the
field. He had been out there running around like a fool (as usual) with
them on, and guess what......they managed to come up over his foot and up
his leg. One ended up nearly to his knee, the other one only made it
halfway up. Both boots were pretty much shredded (though duct tape did fix
that....), just that once the boots ended up where they were on the horse
he decided that he was going to stay put until mom came to rescue him (and
he's real good about whenever he gets caught in anything to wait to be
saved) <G>
(I had been wondering, why is he just standing out there like that in one
spot -- for so long -- duh) hehe
I'd been trying to draw out any bruising he might have had. (he did an
endurance ride every other weekend for six months straight at the end of
last season) Bruises can be odd things with horses - there can be one there
that you can't see but the horse is sore on, or that can be one honkin'
bruise that you can see from a mile away but doesn't seem to bother him the
least. Mine had the kind of bruise that we could see, didn't bother him
(the horse) but bothered me so that's why I tried the medicator boots with
the ichthamol and stuff. Now I use the boots to soak with warm water and
epsom salts and that works very well :)
Karen
& Weaver.....who really didn't enjoy his 4 month winter vacation at all,
even if he was barefoot for most of it :)
