I think that was a wrong assumption: that you can breed horses and make
money. Who led you to believe that breeding horses was a profitable
business?
The market dictates the price and I'm tired of hearing that if you put
"X" amount of money into the horse then you should be able to get "X"
amount of money when you sell it. Sorry, it doesn't work that way.
The horse is worth what one person is willing to pay. Bottom Line. You
can't find anyone willing to pay your price? - then lower the price or
don't sell and keep the horse.
Myself, I've been looking at buying a horse and everyone, including
myself, hears about that "damn good" horse that was purchased for under
$1000. Well, I looked and looked and I didn't find it and I even looked
at horses priced up to $7500. In many cases I didn't see a whole lot of
difference between a $7500 and a $3000 horse. I ended up purchasing a
horse for $4000. that was everything that I was looking for. A prospect,
yes, but he has all the bases covered.
