I'm having troubles with traffic. My horse wasn't too bad last summer, but last fall he got out of his paddock and did some midnight traffic dodging in the fog. I was really lucky he didn't get killed or injured. But now he is a little psycho on the road, and we have a lot of road to ride to get to trails. Any suggestion on how to get him to trust traffic again? I feel he could be quite dangerous, especially if he bolted into oncoming traffic. He seems to be a bit better if I ride him facing traffic, but that is not proper road etiquette. So any ideas?? I thought my horse would be afraid, but after I opened it slowly and he looked at it I could pop it open and put it over my head and he didn't care at all. Since I ride rain or shine I figure better safe than sorry. Today out on a ride I had to pass a man using a weed whacker. Fortunately a) I was riding with someone else, and b) after we were close enough to distinguish that it was a man with a tool neither of the horses were afraid. Oh, and don't forget the horse eating bicycles. I've got to work on that one some more!
