Re: RC: wondering about pre-entries
Karen,
I don't know about other areas, but I know how it is with our group. We don't
require pre-entries, because some people may not know until the last minute if
they can make it, or in the case of rides very close together, if the horse will
be sound. After all, accidents can happen! It does make it harder to estimate
the number of completion awards needed (and meals for the ones who offer), but we
find there are more riders if we leave it open. and more riders means that RM
hopefully can pay their bills! But we greatly appreciate pre-entries and most of
us give a $5.00 discount if the entry is postmarked by a certain date. This
gives us money to work with and also saves time on the secratial work as entries
and scoresheets can be filled out ahead of time. So I guess it just depends on
the individual situation.
