But if it is just right, and he has been properly TRAINED to tie, he can eat,
drink, lie down, roll, etc. Training is the key here--IMO, no horse should
even BE in public until he has had sufficient training to a rope that he
knows better than to fight if he should become tangled. (And yes, I've
broken my own rule a few times, too...) But there is NO substitute for
education here, and it is beneficial to have a horse educated to a rope in
the event that you should happen to ride into wire or any other sort of
hazard that confines his feet or legs unexpectedly. Been there, done that,
and thanks to training, have come away with unmarked and uninjured horses...
