sole bruises

I have a friend who has a horse who is not an endurance horse, but a trail horse.  He has very flat feet and is constantly coming up lame with stone bruises.  What are your sugestions for this wonderful but lame trail horse?  What products have you found helpful on your rocky rides?  This horse is in excellent shape and is very well taken care of.  Cost is of no concern.
