Yes Barb!
My Connemaras and Arab/Connemara crosses have the "feathers" too, and it
helps. The thing my vet said was that often certain areas(I have a pond
that dries up in the summer, but they love to eat the tender grasses
that grow there as it dries up) will harbor the "germ or bacteria" and
always stay there. As you have all said, it is usually the
white-stockinged horses (or greys) that get it the worst . At least in
hot, dry, desert-like northern Calif. it only happens in the wet of
spring or winter.
